Experience & Practices
Tori started her journey to becoming a therapist at Seton Hill University, studying pre-art therapy that involved a dual major in studio art and psychology. While at Seton Hill University, Tori completed 4 years of extensive training in studio art, psychology, and pre-art therapy courses that all helped to complete the degree with an internship experience in an inpatient psychiatric care unit. By taking art courses (e.g. ceramics, drawing, painting, 2D and 3D design), Tori learned the best way to bring art to those without the education in a healing way to clients. With the use of art and talk therapy, Tori’s goal for all her clients is to find their authentic self, express their emotions and needs appropriately, and use self-compassion regularly to handle the hardships of life. Tori attended graduate school for her Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a specification in Art Therapy at Holy Family University. While completing her Master’s degree, Tori worked as a graduate assistant at Bucks County Community College in the AACHIEVE! program, working with students who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnoses to help them adapt to the transition differences between high school and college. Her full year internship was working in a higher level of care with those struggling with eating disorders, as well as other mental health issues. Between both these experiences, Tori works best with adolescents, young adults, and adults trying to find their place in this world, work through self-esteem issues, process previous life events that are still impacting them today, and diagnoses like depression, anxiety, phobias, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, and other stress related disorders (adjustment disorder, etc.).
Tori uses CBT, ACT, solutions-focused, mindfulness techniques in therapy, in addition to art therapy. All of these modalities help to develop an understanding of yourself, how previous life events are still impacting you today, and how to live towards your authentic life. Working through tools in session, you have what you need to process emotions out of sessions when faced with grief, struggles with social relationships, problems related to school, conflicts within family relationships, and more.
